12.01.-17.01.09 Reisen und Arbeiten - Work'n'travel

In der Woche vom 12.01. bis 17.01. bin ich von der Firma aus nach Villach, Klagenfurt und Graz (alles im Sueden Oesterreichs) gefahren. Ich dachte mir, dass ich in den Mittagspausen vielleicht etwas von den jeweiligen Staedten sehen koennte, aber leider war dies nur in Villach moeglich. Dort hatte ich eine Reifenpanne und musste den halben Tag warten... daher seht ihr hier nur ein kleines bischen von Villach im schoenen Kaernten ^^ ansonsten war leider viel mehr arbeiten angesagt. In Klagenfurt hat es wie bekloppt geschneit und in Graz hatte ich dann absolut keine Zeit... schade, aber vielleicht komm ich ja mal wieder hin =)

The week from 12th to 17th of january, I've been travelling to Villach, Klagenfurt and Graz (all in the south of austria) for work. I thought, I could make some sightseeing during the breaks, but it was only possible in Villach as I had a flat tyre there and had to wait half the day... so you see a little bit of the city in the beautiful state of Kaernten ^^ unfortunately I had to work too much on the other places. It was snowing like hell in Klagenfurt and in Graz there was absolutely no time... too bad, but maybe I can go there again some day =)

31.12.08 Silvester in Wien / New Years in Vienna

Seit ich nun in Wien bin, kam ich leider noch nicht wirklich dazu ordentliche Bilder zu machen. Entweder muss ich hier was Offizielles regeln (und das scheint mir mehr zu sein, als man in Neuseeland machen musste =P ) oder das Wetter ist nicht so toll. Ehrlich: seit ich hier bin, isses fast immer bewoelkt! Aber um ein kleines Lebenszeichen von mir zu geben: Bilder von Silvester. Das erste ist das Rathaus - das einzige Bild, das auch was geworden ist -.- und das zweite ist der "Graben" mit seiner Ballsaal-Beleuchtung; allerdings am Vortag aufgenommen ^^

Und somit wuensche ich allen ein FROHES NEUES JAHR! =D

Unfortunately, I didn't had the time yet to take decent pictures since I've come to Vienna. Either I have to go to any offices (to me it seems to be more than it was in New Zealand =P ) and if not, the weather is not really nice. Honestly: since I've come here, it's been cloudy nearly all the time! Anyways, to show you that I'm still alive: here are pictures of New Year's Eve. The first one shows Vienna's city Hall - the only picture that turned out ok -.- and the second one is the sqare called "Graben" (= moat) with its ballroom illumination; I took this pic the day before, though ^^

09.-17.12.08 Worms ^^

... so mein Deutschland-Aufenhalt war nun nicht so lange ^^ Ich bin seit dem 17.12.2008 nun in Wien und werde hier arbeiten und wohnen (= Die alte Heimat habe ich somit etwa eine Woche gesehen und weil das schon fast wie eine kleine Reise ist, werde ich das einfach hier mit reinpacken. Und wer sich wundert: ab sofort werden alle Texte sowohl in Deutsch, als auch in Englisch hier erscheinen, damit auch die Leute, die ich in Neuseeland kennen gelernt habe, etwas hiervon haben =)
Zunaechst einmal muss ich sagen, dass das Zugreisen sehr viel angenehmer wurde. Es gibt nun ueberall Stromanschluesse fuer Laptops und die Zuege sind auch nicht mehr so ueberfuellt, wie ich das immer in Erinnerung hatte. Vielleicht liegts aber auch daran, dass es teurer ist, als je zuvor =P Nunja, das ist also Worms - genauer gesagt der Dom. Er ist um die 1000 Jahre alt und damit weit aelter, als alles, das es in Neuseeland gab ^^

... well, my stay in Germany wasn't really long ^^ I'm now in Vienna/Austria since
17.12.2008 and I'm going to work and live here (= So, I've seen my old home country for just about a week and as this is nearly like holiday, I'm putting it in here as well.
First of all I have to say that travelling by train has become much more comfortable here in Europe. There are power sockets for laptops everywhere now and the trains are not as jam-packed as I remembered. The reason might be, that it's more expensive than ever before =P Anyways, this is Worms Cathedral. The name has not the same meaning as in english; it derives from its roman name "Wormatia". However, the cathedral is about 1000 years old, so it is much older than everything in New Zealand ^^
